“iTots” – Interesting article on iPhone & iPad

“Toddlers’ tiny fingers itching for iPhones, iPads” – USATODAY.com – article from USA Today iPad version – check it out! USA Today called the iPhone and iPad kids “iTots” – a new kind of generation.

http://usat.me?41044428

How true, kids are really taking to these new devices in many ways. There are so many things that can be done on these devices for kids and adults. We found this article very interesting and thought we would post this. We have been going through a lot of testing lately on xPirate and kids are really liking interacting with the iPhone while playing xPirate versus just rolling dice and picking up cards. The key thing for us is having something that’s fun and interactive but still brings the family together for some face time!

xPirate Battle Sequence

Battle SequenceIt’s October and it’s getting cold outside! We wanted to post up an image of our Sea Battle for everyone to checkout.

This is one of our interactive battles in xPirate. This is a battle between a Player and the xPirate Crew. The battle begins when the player took a move at sea on the xPirate game board and came across a roaming xPirate ship. The ships sail in for the attack and fight with cannon fire.

Stats are tracked on the top for the player and on the bottom for the xPirate Crew. Right now the player is winning the battle, 15 to 11. If the player begins to lose, they can always surrender and take a loss as they sail away.

After winning the battle, the player will enjoy the plunders of Gold, Jewels and Supplies.

Player’s can also battle each other if they land on the same space and take a portion of the other player’s rewards.

The waters in xPirate are dangerous so sail with caution and be prepared, with ship upgrades and crew training!

xPirate Game Strategy (Sneak Peak)

We hope this gives you some insight into what to expect with xPirate!

  • Hidden Treasure – The xPirate App will uniquely hide the treasure in each color region for each player. Treasures may or may not be in the same location for each player in the same color region.
  • Game Objective – first player to find all four treasures and return to their home color region Home Island, wins the game. Other players can continue to play for 2nd and 3rd place if desired.
  • Island Positioning – players can position the islands uniquely for every game – players need to figure out what gives advantages and disadvantages to each of the players.
  • Crew Number – the max crew any player can have is 120.
  • Ship Quantity – the max number of ships is 2. Each ship can carry 60 crew.
  • Supplies – crew uses supplies at 1 unit per 10 crew, per move. Make sure to watch you supplies.
  • Gold – gold can be used to purchase crew and supplies.
  • Jewels – jewels can be used to purchase new ships, weapon upgrades and crew training.
  • Crew Training and Ship Weapons – there are three levels of training and weapons (low, medium, high). Each level gives your crew the ability to fight more affectively on land and against other team members in battle.
  • Compass – the compass gives your crew a better ability to navigate in a typhoon and helps against getting lost at sea.
  • Home Battle – when a player finds all three treasures in neighboring color regions, they will return to their home color region to find the final treasure. When they finally find the island that contains that fourth treasure, they will have to fight a fierce battle to win that treasure. Player cannot find this secret treasure until they have found all three treasures in neighboring color regions.
  • Player vs. Player Attack – players can attack other players at any point in the game.
  • Poison Arrows and Bonus Screens – there are lots of opportunity to find secret bonuses the help and poison arrows that slow you down.
  • This is a sample of what to expect with xPirate – keep watching for more.

Welcome to xPirate

Game InstructionsPlayers have been recruited as Captains of their own xPirate fleet. In this strategic pirate quest for hidden treasure, victory is awarded to the xPirate fleet that finds all their uniquely hidden treasures and returns home first.

Each xPirate fleet will start off in a Home Color Region (Red, Yellow, Green, Blue). The xPirate fleet must then find the treasures from each color region before returning home for victory. Players will command multiple ships and be attacked at sea and on land. Beware, other players may attack!

xPirate is an App that requires the use of a physical game board and docking station, which must be purchased separately at a game retailer. The xPirate App cannot be played correctly without the use of this xPirate game board.

Setup – game board and docking station need to be setup first; each player can then strategically positions their home color islands. If there are two players with the same Home Color, they will need to work together to position islands. Place xPirate ship pawns on one of the home color X starting positions. Position the iPhone or iPod in the docking station and begin game play.

More details to follow…

xPirate’s Final Day at GENCON – Wrapping Up a Busy Week – also our Final Winner!

Game InstructionsGENCON has come to a close with a big bang. Sunday was by far the largest crowd for us. One gentleman had some very nice comments on our new xPirate game today during our demo – he just kept saying “awesome, awesome, awesome.” I think he really liked it …

As you can see from the photo here – the kids were ready to play today. These two kids got the hang of the game quickly and wouldn’t stop playing, their parents finally had to pull them away. The parents and the kids told us they were looking forward to it’s release – the sooner the better.

We also had good press coverage today with lots of good comments – the one photographer was taking some good action shots during our demos. We’ll be keeping an eye out for these press releases and will post them here as soon as we can.

Another nice twist today was a teacher we talked with. This teacher told us that he’s always looking for ways to bring games and technology to his classroom. He felt that board games in the classroom are a good way to get his kids involved and working together. He was so excited to see the xPirate game with it’s integration with the iPhone and iPod touch. He told us that he would certainly be following us and was looking forward to bringing this great game to his class – so are we!
